- Associate in Biblical Studies plus 30 credits (total credits = 60)
- Diploma of Ministry plus 30 credits (total credits = 90)
- Diploma of Theology Plus 30 credits (total credits = 120)
Advanced Standing is given to someone who can show that they have gained knowledge legitimately through various means. It may come through study at another college, or from practical experience or other means. We, at Vision, recognise that and do not believe that every student must start at the beginning. We allow for recognition of the learning processes in various ways.
This recognition is offered through Academic Transfers when a student has completed studies at another college, we realise that we one of many wonderful and worthwhile colleges and we are pleased to recognise formal studies that a student has undertaken in another Bible College. WE also offer or though Life (Ministry) Skills credits if a student has gained ministry experience over the years
Up to 60% of the total credits required may be claimed in advanced standing. The actual amount of Advanced Standing will vary from person to person and will depend on what they have done.
How do you earn Credit Points?
A student begins with the Certificate in Biblical Studies and accumulates credits for each award level. By completing a Certificate in Biblical Studies a student will have accrued 30 credit points by the time a student has complete a Diploma of Theology they will have accumulated 120 credit points and then be eligible to enter into the Bachelors Completion award.
Subject: 3 credits. All of our subjects have the same value; by successfully completing a subject a student earns 3 credit points. Most students earn their award by successfully completing any 10 subjects. This gives the student the advantage a greater flexibility of choice of the subjects studied.
One (1) additional credit point per subject may be earned by writing an optional essay. This option is additional to the regular assessment and cannot be used as a replacement of the assessment. The Essay must be of 1,500 to 2,000 words and follow the guidelines set out for writing an essay by Vision Internet Bible College

The benefits of undertaking an essay is that it will both reduce the number of subjects required to complete an award and at the same time enhance the students understanding of the subject thus better equipping the student for their calling. If a student undertakes to complete an essay with each book in order to earn 30 credits, a student will complete 8 books and 6 essays to earn an award.
Two (2) additional credit points per subject may be earned by completing an optional Student Study Guide. This option is additional to the regular assessment and cannot be used as a replacement of the assessment.
The Student Study Guide takes a student through the text book in greater detail. . The benefit of undertaking an essay is that it will both reduce the number of subjects required to complete an award and at the same time enhance the students understanding of the subject thus better equipping the student for their calling. If a student completes and Student Study Guide with each subject they will need to complete 6 subjects and 6 Student Study Guides to earn an award.
If you have completed or are undertaking formal studies and you would like to transfer to Vision Internet Bible College then request the Academic Transfer application form. There is a cost to assess and transfer the credits from another college to Vision Internet Bible College, see Fees and Charges. We do not believe that a student shoudl be forced to start again at the begining and we are happy to recognise the efforts that students have made in another college.
Note: Due to the variety of standards between institutions we cannot guarantee that all awards will be accepted for the same value however we treat all such requests with equal integrity.
We recognise the value of ministry experience as a valid means of prior learning and contributing towards legitimate credits towards your Award.
It is difficult in this space to present a formula for Life Experience Credits as the mix of experience, expertise and ministry of individuals vary greatly, however in general you are eligible to apply if:
- If you have been involved in any form of full-time recognised ministry for a period two years. or
- If you have served the local church in a legitimate office or offices continually for five years; or
- If or if you can show a combination of both then you are eligible to apply for Life Experience Credits.
You will be required to submit a CV of your experience. Once assessed you will be advised of the number of Life Skills credits that may be offered to you. The Life Experience Credits may then be purchased and applied to any part of your course in lieu of studies, however they can only be applied once and they cannot be claimed with Vision Internet Bible College if they have been claimed in another college see Fees and Charges
